Free ATS Resume Score Checker (No Sign-Up): Grade Your Resume in 16 Checks

Grade your resume against 16 ATS and recruiter checks for free, no sign-up — formatting, keywords, quantified bullets, and the fixes that raise your score fast.

A resume score is a quick grade of how well your resume will both pass an applicant tracking system and impress a recruiter. You can check it for free, without a sign-up, by scoring your own resume against the same 16 checks recruiters and parsers care about. Below is the exact checklist — run through it in ten minutes and you'll know precisely what to fix.

What does a resume score actually measure?

A useful score isn't one number from a black box — it's a sum of concrete pass/fail checks across three areas: parse-ability (can the machine read it), match (does it fit the job), and impact (does it convince a human). Anything that scores you without telling you which checks failed isn't helping you improve.

The 16-check resume scorecard

Score one point for each item your resume passes.

Formatting and parse-ability (1–6)

  1. Single-column layout, no tables or text boxes.
  2. Standard section headers ("Experience," "Skills," "Education").
  3. Contact info in the body, not the header or footer.
  4. A text-based .docx or PDF — not a scanned image.
  5. One page (two only if you have 10+ years of experience).
  6. Consistent, standard fonts and clear date formatting.

Keyword and job match (7–11)

  1. The exact target job title appears on the resume.
  2. The posting's must-have hard skills are present.
  3. The tools and technologies named in the posting appear.
  4. A skills section mirrors the job's language.
  5. No keyword stuffing or hidden white text.

Impact and readability (12–16)

  1. Every bullet starts with a strong action verb.
  2. At least half of your bullets include a real number.
  3. A two-to-three-line professional summary leads the page.
  4. No vague filler ("responsible for," "duties included").
  5. Zero typos and consistent verb tense throughout.

How do you raise a low resume score fast?

The biggest jumps come from two changes. First, tailor the resume to the specific posting so checks 7–11 pass — our 9-step tailoring guide covers this. Second, rewrite weak bullets into quantified ones so checks 12–15 pass; the XYZ formula for resume bullet points shows the pattern. If you're starting from scratch, the complete guide to writing a resume ties all 16 checks together.

Why "no sign-up" matters

Many resume graders require an email or a paid plan just to see your number. You shouldn't have to pay to find out what's wrong. The checklist above is free forever — and when you want the same 16 checks run automatically against a real job description, paste your resume into our free ATS Resume Checker for an instant score and the specific keywords you're missing.
